ICON Resin Infiltration

ICON Resin Infiltration

White spots on teeth are common, especially for patients who undergo orthodontic treatment. When tooth enamel is attacked by cariogenic acids, teeth become porous, and white spot lesions appear.

Dental resin infiltration is gentle and can be an effective treatment for removing white spots. It works by filling in the spots where the tooth has become porous and discolored, sealing teeth so that acids can no longer penetrate the surface, stopping the progression of dental cavities.

ICON resin infiltration can be done without drilling or anesthetics and is often used in the treatment of front teeth, where aesthetic appearance is especially important, and improves your child’s smile. The process is safe and can be done in about an hour in our office.

Here’s what your child can expect during the ICON resin infiltration process:

  • We’ll clean the tooth (or teeth) using a pumice scrub
  • A drying agent is applied to the teeth before the resin is applied
  • The resin is left on the teeth for a few minutes and is then cured
  • The process is again repeated if needed

ICON is an effective treatment, but we cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that it will fix all tooth discoloration issues with all patients or that the results will be permanent.

No drilling, no shots! If you have any questions regarding resin infiltration treatment, or to see if your child is a good candidate for the procedure, contact us today!

We offer ICON to children ages 13 and over.
